Most of you know how much I enjoy tea, so it was a special treat to see the tea plantations in the highlands of Sri Lanka, the world's largest producer of tea. The road wound past lush plantations and beautiful waterfalls. The cooler climate and fresh air was a refreshing break. We stopped at the Mackwoods Tea Factory to see the process of tea production, and we treated our guide Piyal to tea and cake for his 70th birthday. We arrived at The Grand Hotel in Nuwara Eliya at the top, an elevation of 1893 meters.
